PureRend rendering process — on site in Cornwall
How We Work

Our process —
what to expect.

Six straight-up steps from your first message to the day the scaffold comes down. No surprises, and no being handed off to a stranger.

01

Initial enquiry & quick chat

Phone, WhatsApp, or the contact form — whichever's easiest for you. We'll ask the right questions up front: property age, what's there now, what's gone wrong, and roughly what you're after. If we can give a ballpark figure off the photos and a description, we will. If we can't, we'll tell you so and book a site visit.

What to expect: A reply within a working day. No call centre, no hard sell — just a straight conversation.

Included

  • +Honest ballpark figures where photos make it possible
  • +Plain answers about whether your job is one I take on
  • +A booked-in site visit if the job needs eyes on it

Not included

  • High-pressure sales tactics or limited-time discounts
  • Quotes from a salesperson who's never held a trowel

02

Site visit & survey

We come out, walk round the property, and check the substrate properly — what it is, what state it's in, where the moisture's getting in if anywhere. We look at the weather exposure, scaffolding access, where the spoil goes, and how it ties into the roofline. We take photos for our records so the quote is based on what's actually there.

What to expect: Around 30–60 minutes on site. Free, no obligation. We'll talk you through what we're seeing as we go.

Included

  • +Substrate inspection (block, brick, existing render, insulation board)
  • +Weather and exposure assessment for North Cornwall conditions
  • +Scaffolding access check and access route for materials
  • +Photos and notes for the written quote

Not included

  • Structural engineering reports (we'll tell you if you need one)
  • Damp surveys requiring opening up walls

Written quote & timeline

Within a few days you'll get a written quote by email, broken down so you can see exactly what you're paying for — scaffolding included, prep included, finish coat included. We'll also give you a realistic lead time and tell you how many days the job will take on site.

What to expect: A clear PDF or email with line-by-line costs and lead time in plain English.

Included

  • +Clear written quote, itemised so nothing is hidden
  • +Scaffolding hire and erection
  • +Realistic start date and on-site duration
  • +Clear scope of work in writing

Not included

  • Painting or decorative top-coats unless specified
  • Structural repairs uncovered after strip-back (priced separately if needed)

Booking & prep

Once you say yes, we lock in the date. Materials get ordered and the scaffolding goes up the day before or first thing on day one. We'll let you know in advance what to move from the perimeter and how to access the bits of the house we're working on.

What to expect: A confirmed start date, an order list of materials, and clear instructions on what you need to do (very little).

Included

  • +Materials sourced from trusted UK suppliers
  • +Scaffolding erection and full sign-off
  • +Pre-start brief on access, parking, and what to clear

Not included

  • Moving heavy garden items or dismantling permanent structures
  • Pet or livestock containment during the works

The job itself

We're on the tools and on site — every window, door, driveway and plant gets sheeted up before mixing starts. Render goes on by spray for big elevations, by hand for detail. At the end of every day the site gets swept, tools cleaned, and any spoil taken away.

What to expect: Daily cleanup, daily progress updates if you want them, and consistent quality throughout.

Included

  • +Full surface masking (windows, doors, paths, plants)
  • +Spray and hand application by our team
  • +Daily site sweep, tool clean-down, and waste removal
  • +Weather-aware scheduling — we won't render through driving rain

Not included

  • Working through extreme conditions that would compromise the finish
  • Additional rendering on other elevations unless quoted for

Sign-off & handover

Before the scaffold comes down, we do a walk-round together. Anything you flag, we sort there and then — that's what snagging is for. Once you're happy, the scaffold comes down and the patio gets a final clean.

What to expect: A joint final inspection, snags fixed on the spot, and a clean site handover.

Included

  • +Joint walk-round before scaffold drops
  • +Snagging fixed before final invoice
  • +Final clean of paths, driveway, and surrounding ground

Not included

  • Manufacturer product warranty (covered separately by the render manufacturer)
  • Future soft-wash maintenance (offered as a separate service)

Critical aftercare warning

Never pressure-wash your render.

Modern through-coloured rendering acts as a breathable membrane. In the damp environment of North Cornwall, algae spores will eventually settle on the facade — this is completely normal.

Do not blast it with a pressure washer. High-pressure water blows the microscopic top layer off the render, destroying its hydrophobic properties, stripping the manufacturer warranty, and leaving the surface porous — meaning algae returns twice as fast the following year.

The correct solution: soft-washing

Render requires chemical soft-washing— biocides applied with low-pressure pumps that kill algae at the root. The weather then washes the dead matter away naturally over a few days, leaving the render's surface completely intact. Ask us about soft-wash aftercare when we quote your render job.
